Accountability

How do you handle being held accountable?

You don’t realize whether you’re truly healed until you are in a situation where it tests the lessons you’ve supposedly learned.  I had this realization a couple days ago to where I was being held accountable for not doing my taxes last year.  Granted, I should have ALREADY had my taxes done(don’t judge me) but that wasn’t the issue.  The underlying issue was that I literally shut down after being told about myself. I didn’t take the “criticism” well when I know damn well it needed to be said.  If you would have asked me 20 minutes beforehand if I mastered being held accountable I would have said yes in a heartbeat.  Boy was I wrong.  I’m appreciative to have people in my life that aren’t afraid to tell me how it is but actually want to see me be a better person and if telling me to do my damn taxes turned that light bulb on for me then so be it.

If you’re reading this and find yourself shutting down when someone is truly wanting to help you; pause for a second and think about what the deeper issue is that’s triggering you.  Has this feeling came up before but in a different situation? What patterns do you notice when it comes to that feeling? How can you work on it without having the same negative result? What books, tools and/or resources can you use on this journey to become a better you?

I want you to be the BEST version of yourself in every aspect of your life! I believe in YOU!

Love,

JaLia S.
