Happy Full Moon🌕✨
Yoni is Sanskrit for vulva, womb, pussy, pee pee, vagina, private part… name her as you will but absolutely name her! Yoni is my personal favorite word when mentioning her besides her personal name 🙂
In our patriarchal society women have been discouraged from honoring our sacred femininity. From the beauty industry telling us we’re not beautiful as we are to the medical industry removing our wombs left and right when simple education could prevent a majority of the procedures. Nobody will do it for us so it is our responsibility to bring awareness to the alarming issues surrounding our sacred wombs. As the day quickly approach until I’m 23; this is becoming more true for me.
I’ve been doing yoni steams and using organic cotton pads (most recently menstrual cups) for a while and noticed that some women aren’t as aware of what is being put on/in our feminine care products as we should. I’m no expert on this topic whatsoever but the least I could do is share what I know with you all and hopefully encourage you to do more research on this amazing journey!
Yoni
Take a mirror and actually look at your yoni; no two vaginas look the same. Explore your body more and eventually name her, talk to her as if she is another person. I believe our intuition comes from our wombs (hence the phrase “gut feeling”) and building a relationship to know what feelings are from fear or love will help in making better choices.
Pads & Tampons
Regular pads have a horrendous reputation for cases of Toxic Shock Syndrome(TSS). TSS is a rare condition but regular pads and tampons are only increasing your chance of it. Most products that are white has gone through a bleaching process to create the color; pads and tampons are no exceptions. There are many harmful ingredients used to treat the cotton and it is in turn drifting into our sacred yonis. I would suggest using organic pads and tampons. Brands I have used are Shuya, Natracare and Organyc. These are not the only brands that have organic cotton pads; just do your research before buying. These days you have to be careful with the word “organic” which led me to take my yoni care journey a step further.
Menstrual Cups
These cups are a true gift from God! I’ve only had my cycle twice since using my menstrual cup but I LOVE IT! I ordered my menstrual cup from nenefemhealth.com (more on Nerissa later) but there are so many options, it’s all a matter of what you prefer. I bought the basic cup($10) to try before I give all my money away for cups lol. One single cup lasts up to 10 YEARS and it is the healthiest alternative for your cycle. There are countless YouTube videos on how to insert them and make them fit comfortably. I still use a pad at night on my heavy flow just for precaution and party-liners during the day. Menstrual cups can also be worn for up to 12 hours at a time. Women over 25 and who have given birth can also use them; just a larger size. Make sure that they are made from ONLY SILICONE!
Yoni Steams
Yoni steams or vaginal steams are used to heal and connect more deeply with your yoni. Douches are a big no-no for us because it not only gets rid of the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria that we need. Yoni steams use particular herbs to cleanse your yoni. Our yoni is a self-cleaning machine which will warn you when she is out of balance through a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, acne, odor etc. I don’t buy yoni steams from anyone because I am a part of a community garden and they don’t spray any of their herbs with chemicals. Different herbs have different healing properties but be sure to Google herbs that you can use for steams, some herbs are not recommended. I usually do a YS for the cleaning aspects after my cycle and whenever I am led to do one. Caution: DO NOT do a yoni steam when you are on your cycle, pregnant or have a yeast infection/BV present!
Soaps
Bath & Body Works, Summer’s Eve, Caress etc. etc. etc. -pick your favorite commercial soap brand-SHOULD NOT BE NEAR YOUR YONI! Any natural soap and warm water will suffice because your yoni is self-cleaning. I have used Nerissa’s (nenefemhealth.com) Vagina Therapy soap and Ashley’s (ashleysnaturals.com) Queen Wash which are both great! Again do your research and find brands you connect and trust with your yoni to buy soaps from. Some people promote using only water but I’m not at that level of natural yet
Probiotics
Probiotics are a great way to balance your pH. Our diet is full of foods that our yoni does not like which creates an imbalance in our pH. I personally use Renew Life probiotics for women because I am eliminating dairy from my diet and this brand is vegan-friendly.
More Juicy Info
There’s so much to learn but this is a great start for you to continue your research.
I said I would come back to Nerissa because I truly need to give her her own section for this post. She is the lady you would want to get your yoni, health, sex, life and natural tips from. She has dedicated her life to healing yoni’s and I want you all to gain some knowledge from her. Be sure to follow her on social media and visit her site for more info
As I’m over halfway finished with my #23DaystoLoveJS I figured today would be a great day to share more about the yoni🌺
